The Promise of Oblivion

Mathieu Triboire With its rawness its darkness and its subtle spark of light, this album is the perfect example of what I'm looking for when it comes to black metal. Haunting, melodic, agressive but also very cryptic. This album is really a "must have" for those who love emotional dark music. Favorite track: The Promise Of Oblivion.

maxlikesound Those who think DSBM is melodramatic foolishness won't change their mind after listening to this. These guys are VERY over-the-top in their imagery and music, but they're backed up by convincing musicianship. The vocalist has a good balance of anguished bravado without sounding silly like a lot of his contemporaries, and there's way more memorable riffs than the usual album in this style. Favorite track: I'll Buy The Rope.

Katrin amazing DSBM album! crushing screams blend with quite atmospheric parts. i hope there will be more material soon :D Favorite track: The Clouds Won't Shade The Pain.

Alixer Amazing DSBM from Australia, I bought their album when I listened to the first track because they amazed me, Deadspace put a special atmosphere with this retro sound (Thinking of the solo of the last track) and the shrieking voice. In more there is this Lifelover-ish feeling, with auto destruction. Total worship, waiting for the next production. Favorite track: In The Coldness Of The Darkest Night.

flightoficarus (Metal Trenches) From the first tortured post-black screams and perfectly implemented keys of the title track to the final blissful notes of "In the Coldness," I was captivated. The added, but never overdone reverb make this sound like an album playing within the mind of someone coping with MDD. It's a sad reminder, but also a victory call. El_Cuervo Imagine Shining (Swe) but factor in more atmospherics.

Deadspace aims for cathartic misanthropy but hits a strange but compelling spot wherein its depressive black metal is quite calming. There's a chilling tranquility present here, despite its obvious blackened tendencies. In my top 10 for 2015. Favorite track: Oblivion.

the coming void is always screaming begging me with hands of outstretched agony the promise of oblivion day by day fucking me to sleep i welcome it with tired eyes the black noise is paler than the white is safer than the light that burns the light that taunts us from a cold distant life that i'll never ever have the mirror breaks my skin a crimson flower is blossoming like a bloated corpse the promise of oblivion day by day fucking me to sleep i welcome it with tired eyes
2.
my virtue is running dry my filth is bleeding through my own desires with ash in my mouth i am the stained the silence hurts us desire will burn us now comes the birth of something pure an innocence to spoil to spill upon with tears of callous lust the child in me is angry her hurt will find her forever it's inevitable there's nothing left to feed on except for love the silence hurts us desire will burn us now comes the birth of something pure an innocence to spoil to spill upon with tears of callous lust
3.
reaching upward until the skin tears off these arms a distant light of mine is all that's left and i'd bury my nails in your eyes feel my sorrow run between my fingers to take away the longing on sheets of embers in the writhing blackness sweat soaking through the fucking silk again i wander, longing and lying still a mind raped to bleeding by words there is no respite the gaping maw above this hole once all the sky to me is little more than a distant star my fingers grazed and nails split from the endless climbing my back is broken from the fall stone's throw from the blame an ocean away too far to swim, but not to drown on sheets of embers in the writhing blackness sweat soaking through the fucking silk again i wander longing and lying still a mind raped to bleeding by words
4.
the darkness conceals all that was before the dirt that coats the teeth oil for the machine bones ground to dust the agonising groan of a dying man becomes the new hymn for fruitless prayer the red in the sky is wrung dry like the flicker in your eyes und ich bin qual life leaves us all the end is always inevitable and tastes like sweet defeat a misery born from the ruins of yesterday's failures lays beneath our feet it's all i am all i'll ever be flesh, blood and bone the poison that i breathe nothing more, nothing at all where do we go from here? six feet under the earth we reap

left to rot inside this hole let me out of here break me free of my own skin blind me from all my sin no more shackles lead me home mein schadenfreude, cut their throats bleed them dry and cold it's like we're lusting blood so let it rain the paper clouds don't mask the pain bleed, bleed, feed i want to see their brains on the floor

Pain's Grey 03:29
they tried to bury us they didn't know we were seeds destined to grow in ruins of feeble aspirations thriving in the darkness feeding in the depths die finsternis des menschen was mich nicht umbringt macht mich schwärzer we cut our teeth earning our lacerations fighting for the wavering contract of a certain tomorrow there is no time for sleeping there is no hope in dreaming we're lesser hues now all turned to grey the colours we turned away haunt us with their absence
8.
inside i'm spilling over it fills my eyes with the filth that you spit the never-ceasing voices black sweat is slick upon my face the judgement is sickening it never ends it baits me to rage, the childish games you play du bist innerlich schwarz black, svart, empty du bist innerlich tot rotting, putrid, fetid as sick as i am you colour me with light as sick as i am you make me feel like fire in the coldness of the darkest night i lay under the stars and dream of death's embrace it pulls me under the current my lungs quickly filling with water like that it all fades away fades to grey
