“I will remain always, in this cruel haze of light and blood. And I am sorry that I have to speak - to let these words fall away from the wounds in me.
Hah... well... wounds? No. Just mirrors, I think. Reflections in cooling blood. Silhouettes of the pains I have borne upon others; those whose souls I have cast upon my own. Those souls that steal the sleep from me..."
And so I must bear to you a heart of stone, and remain always in my own cruel haze of light and blood.”
In despair, heads have bowed to broken bone
With septic arms to choke the sun
Dragging blunted blades across never healing sores
Hush now, young child, close your eyes and swallow the locusts
To mar the shaking hand and turn the heart to stone
Bare this heart of stone,
Lay still in this bondage, forever…
Bare this heart of stone,
Lay still in despondence, forever…

Jordan Vauvert

Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74
